Tibet tuần vừa rồi. Tớ đọc mà choáng, Hoá ra một ngày chỉ có được tối đa 2300 vé bán ra cho khách vào thăm Potala,
However, it is a stupid system!!!
Theyare trying to charge western prices yet there is no info available and everyone at the door who you ask tells you something different. And you spend half your time in Lhasa trying to get a ticket!!! It is a complete JOKE!!!!
Sunday - I went to the main entrance at the front and was told to return at 8am on Monday.
Monday - I couldn''''''''t make 8am, and at 11am was told to go to the ticket office on the western side. They told me various things, like come back tomorrow at 6, no 7.30, or 6.30, or 8.30....they didn''''''''t seem to know themselves!!
Tuesday - I joined a line at 8am. At 10am someone wrote a number on my hand and I had to return at 12pm. But I had to give a fake passport number as I didn''''''''t have my passport with me.
12pm I returned and joined the same line of people. We waited an hour! So, after 5 hours of waiting around I got a peice of paper that said "Admission for entry to buy the ticket of the Potala Palace". It stated I had to return at 3pm on Wednesday.
Wednesday 2.40pm I went to the place where I had spent several hours the day before, kind of liek a ticket office. They told me I need to go to the front of the building, 1/4 mile away!
The guy at the door questioned my passport number - I told him I had to fake it because I didn''''''''t have my passport with me the day before and they weren''''''''t going to let me buy a ticket without it, even though I had waited for hours! He nearly didn''''''''t let me in, but then he did...
I paid Y100 and I was in - I spent one hour pushed around by Chinese tourists who seemed to think they were more important than me. I could hardly read the English info signs because the Chinese guides were giving such loud commentaries.
I heard you used to be able to go on the roof?? Good views of Lhasa? I heard this had stopped. Anyway, everywhere there were signs saying "no photography".
Glad I went, but I only persisted because I kept telling myself, "well, i''''''''ve come this far..I can wait another hour if necessary."
but it is a joke!!!
