BMW to replace faulty timing chain in 2008-2014 vehicles link

The problem: Timing chains on N63 engines have been found to stretch and wear out prematurely, resulting in premature valvetrain wear and reduced engine performance.
Corrective action: BMW has come up with a test procedure to determine timing chain wear. Dealers will perform this test in conjunction with the N63 Customer Care Package, which is designed to ensure proper long-term engine operation. After this test has been performed, dealers will replace the chain as necessary, along with all accompanying hardware, including the chain tensioner and hardware as well as the chain sprocket. The oil and oil filter will be changed, and techs will reprogram the vehicle’s onboard computer to alert drivers of shorter oil-change intervals.
Warranty info: This repair is covered under the new car limited warranty or, if applicable, the certified pre-owned warranty. If an extended warranty is in place and the factory warranty has expired, the repair might be covered under that warranty.

The N63 Customer Care Package Campaign program has been launched today (12/29/14). It has been designed exclusively for BMW F0x, F1x and E7x vehicles with the N63 engine, to ensure that these engines keep delivering the ultimate performance and exceptional quality for years of service. This Care Package (free of charge to the customers) includes a 6 point check, and if necessary, the replacement of one or more of the following powertrain components:

Hot-Film Air Mass Sensors
PIEZO High Pressure Fuel Injectors
Engine Vacuum Pump
Fuel System Low Pressure Sensor/Feed Line
Fresh Air Intake Turbo Seals
Crankcase Ventilation Lines (Hoses)
The care package also includes engine timing chain test plan, engine oil & filter replacement, vehicle's programming with a reduction of the CBS intervals, and finally a multi-point inspection of the vehicle, including tire pressures, fluid levels, safety and convenience features.

The following important Service Bulletins related to the N63 Customer Care Package have been posted today on TIS. Please make sure that you familiarize yourself and your personnel with the content of:

SI B00 13 14 "N63 Care Package Overview" - outlines the basic concept/goals of the campaign, provides a script for contacting customers and details of the "N63 Customer Appreciation/Royalty Program"
SI B11 06 14 "N63 Engine: Customer Care Package" - provides detailed technical instructions of N63 engine inspection and parts replacement when required
SI B11 16 14 "N63 Engine: Check the Timing Chain" - describes procedures for the timing chains ISTA test plan and for the CBS conversion/programming.
To complete the N63 Customer Care Package campaign, order only the necessary parts, in the quantities needed, for customers’ vehicles that have confirmed failures as a result of engine inspection, or the test plan. Such parts can only be ordered through TeileClearing (via a "N63 CCP PuMA case), as the part numbers are blocked. Parts identified as needed in the TeileClearing case will be forwarded to the Parts Department and will constitute the Center’s Parts order for this vehicle.. An initial set of parts was “pushed out” to each Center on or about December 29th. Please use the parts from this initial set, and replenish it by submitting TeileClearing cases for the parts required for every VIN.

Also, when applicable, perform the procedure described in SI B61 30 14, "12-Volt Battery Replacement under the BMW Maintenance Program" together with performing the N63 Customer Care Package.
